Bernadette Peters
Bernadette Peters (nee Lazzara, born February 28th 1948) is an American actress, singer and author of children's books. Over her six-decade career, she has appeared on television, film and in musical theatre. She also gave on her own and recorded. She is a highly-acclaimed Broadway performer. She has won seven Tony Awards nominations (plus an honorary award) in addition to nine Drama Desk Award nominations. Four of the Broadway casting albums in which she's performed have been awarded Grammy Awards.
Many believe Peters to be the most effective Stephen Sondheim interpreter. She is well-known for performances on Broadway, such as in Mack and Mabel (1974), Sunday in the Park with George (1884), Song and Dance (1885), Into the Woods with George (1987), The Goodbye Girl (1993), Annie Get Your Gun (1999), Gypsy (2003), A Little Night Music (2010), Follies (2009), and Hello, Dolly (2018).
